What brought you to The Highlander: I got involved in my high school newspaper my senior year and after graduation began working with a local newspaper and decided this is where i wanted to go with my career. So, I joined the newspaper my first semester at Misericordia. It is now my junior year, and I'm serving as Print Editor. I hope to be Editor-in-Chief Fall 2008.
Favorite story covered in journalistic career: I really enjoyed following the recycling coverage on campus. I was able to learn about series writing, writing for the internet and the convergence online through the first ever vodcast. I'm also proud of a cover story and two profiles I've written for The Pittston Sunday Dispatch.
What is the hardest part about covering/writing a story? I think it can be difficult when you have scheduling conflicts and the person you may be trying to interview is being uncooperative. One time I was interviewing a performer in the Cougar’s Den and rather than offering me a quote, he yelled at me for not researching his website first (which didn't offer the information for the question I asked) and refused to speak with me.
Major: Communications
Year of Graduation: 2009
One fact that no one knows about you: I’m an absolute theater and broadway freak. I even used to dream about being an actress.
Any additional information: I’m currently the print editor of the newspaper along as a reporter. I work with both print and online, and I am really pushing the convergent nature and trying to find ways to have them relate to each other. I love to learn, and I love a challange.
